Whole cow's milk is fine in cooking (and on cereal or similar) from 6 months, so there's no need to use formula for cooking. I would just make it however you normally make it, but don't add any salt and you could use unsalted butter to make the white sauce.

I often used cheese like emmental in food at this age as it has the lowest salt content of cheese that I could find.

Thanks was the cheese bit i wasnt sure about. Dont know why but im wary of giving her dairy.

Unless you've got a family history of allergy then dairy is unlikely to be a problem, particularly cooked dairy products which are less likely to cause an issue anyway.

Agree with culture completely. Full fat cows milk is fine in cooking from 6 months and just make it however you usually make it but without added salt.

Is there a particular reason you are wary of dairy? Has she had problems with bm or ffing?

dicko1 · 25/03/2015 19:56

No no particular reason. Just always had it in my mind to be wary of dairy. Maybe over protective x

So there's been no problem with reacting to your bm or to formula then? I think if there was a problem with dairy it would have sown up long before now Smile

Have you had a look at MN weaning recipes? There's some good ones in there. Glad she liked it too although you do know that it means she won't eat it next time Smile
