Looking for ideas for the next lots of puree I'll make for my 7 month old.

She hates plain apple but loves that with berries so we're currently doing apple and strawberry for breakfast.

Dinner purees she has loved have been butternut squash, and pea & pear. The latter is her favourite so far.

I'm thinking of doing chicken, potato and sweetcorn next.

But other ideas?

DS is 7mo and likes sweet potato and carrot together, and recently I've added a bit of chicken to that.

He also likes broccoli and green beans together. I want to try peas but not sure which ones? I couldn't see any fresh peas in Tescos, would you use frozen peas?

squizita · 07/03/2015 15:35

It's my understanding that frozen peas have more vitamins than fresh- they deteriorate quickly. Unlike tinned, frozen veg is just veg.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/03/2015 15:43

I just used frozen peas.

Broccoli and green beans is a good idea.

Cut up carrot, potato, cauliflower, put in some lentils and cover with water. Summer till softened and blitz. The lentils are a great protein source. I sometimes mixed some grated cheese in when heated too.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/03/2015 16:00

I didn't think of using lentils. Do you do red or green ones?

For a sweet one, our favourite was papaguacananana (TM) - papaya, avocado and banana. Apparently any combo of this works because they're all originally from the rubber tree. Who knew?!

GrouchyKiwi · 07/03/2015 16:06

I would never have thought of putting that together! Looks super healthy too.

Baby bologense : minced pork /beef, carrot, courgette, cauliflower, red lentil, chopped toms, onion, pinch of italian herbs. Cook till lentils are soft, blend.

Can add pasta, mash, cous Cous on the side if you like, DS loves it!

toffeeboffin · 07/03/2015 17:03

I second Flissity 83, red lentils are great, protein rich, cheap and easy to cook!

anothernumberone · 07/03/2015 17:07

I just made a yummy roast dinner with mixed roast veg and roast potatoes and no added salt. Mine loved it. Ordinary SPAG bol with no stock cube with grated carrot and courgette. A family favourite and easy for baby. Generally my baby meals were a small variation on what we we having too. I did a lot of finger foods from the get go the same as family meals.

anothernumberone · 07/03/2015 17:08

The roast was any meat beef, pork, chicken etc

cathpip · 07/03/2015 17:12

Jkt spud with cheese and beans, puréed with lots of milk and butter, was by far the favourite with all three of mine. Second favourite was porridge with apples and pears.

LemonYellowSun · 07/03/2015 17:17

The favourite with my son at that age was mashed potato, broccoli and tuna all mashed in together then browned on top.

MilkRunningOutAgain · 07/03/2015 19:12

Lamb stew, small piece of neck of lamb stewed with mix of root veggies ( onion, carrot, parsnip, swede, potato ) in no salt stock and then whizz up , or just mash a bit for older babies. Both mine loved this.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/03/2015 19:13

These are great, thanks. Will be fun/frustrating to try them with the little one. And toddler would probably enjoy versions of them too.

Broccoli, pea and courgette with a teeny bit of apple as a sweetener.

Sweet potato, a green (broccoli/peas/similar) and chicken or salmon

Venison (or beef), tomatoes, mushrooms and rice.

Just go to the butchers, get some ends of whatever's there, then chuck any veg you've got in with a bit of apple or pear to sweeten if necessary.

Ooh and if you can invest in a Phillips Avent baby food steamer and blender. They're amazing and you might just get a bit obsessed with making baby food Blush

Mummify · 07/03/2015 19:26

Annabel karmel banana - basically warm mashed banana a splash of milk and a bit of cinnamon and splash of orange juice (from an actual organe!) if you like l. Yum!

DearGirl · 07/03/2015 20:52

Sweet potato carrot and lentil daal
Courgette and potato gratin
Pope ye Pasta
Avocado
Chicken casserole

kiwiscantfly · 07/03/2015 21:01

Anabel Karmel hidden veg pasta sauce, the four year old gets her veg and the 9 month old sucks it off the pasta.

Plateofcrumbs · 09/03/2015 20:06

Tinned mackerel with cous cous and broccoli is a favourite here - I like it too so we share the same lunch.

Chicken liver was a surprise hit with DS - I cooked it up with onion and butter and blended, made excess into pate for the grown ups.

Lentils are great, I've been making mild curries with a bit of garam masala added to a mix of red lentils, tinned tomatoes, coconut milk and mashed sweet potato. Another one that I like as much as the baby.
