can anyone help with food ideas - I am finding it hard to think of finger foods to give my little boy. He used to love things like chicken casserole, mince and potatoes and soups but has started to push the spoon away and seems much happier with little pieces of bread and butter and cheese that he can pick up himself - but how can I give him a whole meal of finger food?

Chopped up sausages and pasta
Mix the mince and mash potatoes together into a sticky consistency and him eat it with his fingers

People doing blw give all meals as solely finger food! It isn't that hard. A few examples:

Quiche with tomato and cucumber.
Salmon (holds together better than white fish) with gnocchi and babycorn.
Fish fingers, chips, peas.
Porridge pancakes.
Blueberries, bananas, puffed wheat.
Pasta twists and meatballs with a tomato + roasted veg sauce.
Sandwiches.
Beef or lamb casserole (lots of chunky root veg).
Soup with big cubes of bread mixed in.

DD (8.5 months) eats all of these and many more herself.

There are lots of threads on blw, or check out Aitch's blog for more ideas.

ooooh CSWS, i am so going out to buy fish fingers today... How could i have forgotten about them? yum. (went through a big phase of them about five years ago when my friend was weaning her little girl, then they just dropped off my radar. see? it almost makes it worth having a baby?!)

as everyone has said, vp01, it's not so difficult once you get your head round it. chicken casserole sounds delicious - just don't cut up the chicken. likewise mince and potatoes. slice the pots rather than mashing (or mash but keep thick) and when you make the mince don't break it up too much so that you can give normal mince to the rest of the family but there will be some meatball-sized bits to pull out for the baby. (wanna know my mum's top scottish tip for mince, by the way, half a teaspoon of garam masala or some other curry powder, makes all the difference). and soups are easy too, just leave the veggies chunky. or some of them at least, so you can fish them out of the pot.
home-made beefburgers and breaded chicken are also an easy freezer standby.

there are loads of great ideas on this thread, and if you want to look at my blog it's here . now step away from the blender...
