Food and sleep

Anyone found a winning combination? What food aids the best night's sleep? One of my friends reckons more protein at tea-time, I've just read on another thread that something more carb-y is better. What food helps your lo sleep well?

milk. but then my dd is only 10 months.
i found that if she ate too near to bedtime her tummy was full but her appetite didn't stay sated for long. i moved her 'dinner' back (on the advice of a MNer) and her sleeping improved almost immediately.
probably best to ignore this if your child is three, though...

How far back did you move dinner, Aitch? DS is 7 months, and has his last solid meal around 6pm, then bedtime bottle between 7.30 and 8pm.

she was having her last bedtime bottle at 6.30-7pm and we moved her tea back to about 4pm. hth

Probably the tea & milk are too close together then. Ds (16mths) has tea at 5pm, milk at 6.30, and this seems to work. He tends to have a 'carby' tea (pasta, mashed pot & cheese, thick soup) but often also a milky tea.

DS has his tea at 4pm - usually fruit with baby rice as anything too heavy seems to give him tummy ache later. Then milk at 6.45-7pm depending on how keen we are to get rid of him! This seems to work fairly well.
