Radybrek for 6m old?

Our son has been weaning since 17w and getting on great. The HV said on Friday we can start giving him Readybrek rather than baby porridge. I noted salt was "trace" and couldnt find sugar on the Asda's own brand.

Anyone got experience of giving a 6m old readybrek?

I know they are quick cheap and easy.... we eat them every day. I was asking about readybrek whilst transitioning from smooth to lumpy foods.

Well in that case yes you can believe your health visitor and the packaging. Ready brek is fine. People were just pointing out that porridge is cheaper because they're nice like that. Grin

I used to blend ordinary oats in a mini blender before making porridge out of them. The texture was smoother than normal oats but not as wallpaper paste-y as readybrek. Although that doesn't have the added vitamins and minerals that readybrek would, but it is cheaper.

6mo DS has Ready Brek most mornings with a bit of mashed or puréed fruit added. I agree it is pretty rank when plain, whereas normal porridge is lovely plain, don't ask me why. I'm going to transition him to normal oats as he's getting used to lumpier foods.
