Any recommends for essential kit for weaning???

I will be weaning in the next few weeks and wondered if any experienced mums could pass on their recommends (or not!!) for kit. I've got the Annabel Karmel book (homemade pancakes for brekkie for toddlers.....with this working mother I think not...) and she recommends a mouli and a blender. Do i really need both...or neither? Any pointers welcomed.

I personally would say yes to blender or food processor, but I have got away without a mouli. How old is your lo? If 6 months +, purees don't have to be super smooth. What I don't do in the food processor I can manage by mashing with spud masher or a fork.
My essential kit items are the food-freezing cubes and I've also got some little pots with lids with days of the week on them from Mothercare which are quite handy.

i've been weaning for about two weeks. all i have needed so far: a stick blender, bowls, spoons and bibs. i make all purees as i go as i'm trying new foods every other day. now i know what foods DS likes i will batch make some and freeze them. i bought the annabel karmel freezer trays for that.

Plastic floor mat if feeding in a carpeted room.

If you opt for baby led weaning then you don't need any fancy kit, just some bibs and a high chair will be fine.

Even if you wean the traditional way, you certainly don't need a mouli, but a very small blender will be useful.

At 6 months you really don't need to puree anything at all.

Food freezing cubes are really helpful, plus a number of small tubs for serving food in and I have a stick blender as although DS 6mths plus he rejects some food if its too lumpy. Good luck. Oh and don't buy the mouli, I stupidly bought one and have never used, looks really fiddly to take it apart and wash all the bits whereas the hand blender only takes a minute.

Many thanks to all....confirms what I thought about the mouli!! The plastic sheet seems so obvious but hadn't occured to me; doh!

I found the bibs with sleeves attached great when ds was younger. Food goes everywhere when they start weaning and it all seems to stain.

Rather than buy food freezing cubes, much cheaper to get a lot of ice cube trays from your local pound shop (ours were 5 for a pound) and empty them out into freezer bags.

Agree that a hand blender=v useful, mouli hardly ever.
