Firstly, when is it ok to start giving cereal like weetabix to babies? Seem to remember a horror story about a baby dying from being fed cereal at an early age, something to do with the salt content?

Also, is it ok to give 'bio' yogurt to babies, i.e with live cultures in it? Wanted Greek yogurt but dh came back with bio, was all the supermarket had.

Oh, should add, dd2 almost 7 months!
Thanks in advance,

I think there's some salt in weetabix, I'd be inclined to give home-made muesli, or oatmeal, at this age, maybe save the weetabix until she's 9 months or a year? That being said, the occassional weetabix won't kill her - I think the biggest salt risk is when they're under 6 months.

I think live culture yogurt is fine for little ones. High fat yogurt is best, if possible, but I'm sure live is fine, unless there are immune system worries.

The main concern with weetabix is normally the gluten rather than the salt. They are fine from 6 months.

Although there is some salt in them, it's really quite small for the amount that they'll eat, but if she's having lots of other salty food then you could try something like ready brek or shredded wheat, neither of which have added salt or sugar.

No help with yoghurts here as DD dairy intolerant.
