A question about weaning and dropping milk feeds

I've been BLWing DS for just a couple of weeks so I know I don't need to worry about about this just yet but I want to be prepared.

At the moment I feed DS to sleep, including for naps. Although he can (sometimes) self settle if he wakes up between the chair and cot, he always needs a feed in order to sleep, even if not hungry.

What I'm concerned about is will this effect the weaning process? I don't want him filling up on milk that he wouldn't necessarily need otherwise which would mean he then won't eat his solid meals. Does this make sense? Or will he just drop the feeds inbetween nap times?

Or should I start getting him to nap without a feed? Ie with rocking etc?

I know he won't eat if not hungry so probably just suckles to sleep rather than feeds if he's already full, which is fine, but like I say I don't want him filling up on milk and not having his solids.

I don't feel I'm making myself very clear but if you did manage to get this far do you have any advice?

In my limited experience, it works itself out on its own really. My DS was similar to yours at this age. I didn't really actively drop feeds, it happened on its own so that by 12 months food was primary and breastfeeding secondary. He also just stopped needing to feed to sleep of his own accord. I could then put him down drowsy and he would go off on his own, with a little stroking and singing if he was unsettled.

I don't think the small amounts of milk taken when feeding to sleep will interfere with the weaning process.
