All I mostly do is banana! What else, she's 14 months and we struggle on quick simple breakfast ideas so it gets boring. I think Cheerios have too much sugar don't they? And she won't eat weetabix

I add a mixture of linseed/ flaxseeds or ground almonds . In places like Holland a Barrett they sell these as a powder mixture so just add a spoon

Also shredded coconut and pumpkin seeds

Grated or purée pear or Apple

Blueberries and soft berries in summer

Fruit purée. Top tip - if you freeze it (e.g. In an ice cube tray) it cools the porridge down as it melts.

Any fresh or dried fruit, honey, proper chocolate, yoghurt, Cinnamon. List is endless really.

We do blueberries. It's the only way to get him to eat it at the minute. He loves blueberries.

Purplecircle · 11/01/2015 15:29

Add frozen blueberries, they cool down the porridge and the heat of the porridge defrosts the berries

Peanut butter and banana is a favourite here.

Banana or berries. My dc are older now and I'm trying hard to remember at what stage they were ok eating what.

The dc have porridge most mornings for breakfast and we chop and change what they add to it. Frozen berries are good as they tend to be more jam like and as a pp said they cool the porridge down. Chopped apple and cinnamon or brown sugar, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, banana, kiwis. We usually have lots of fruit in so the dc will pick a combination and add that or just one type.

Ds2 has quite a savoury tooth and will stir a spoonful if peanut butter in!

We do chopped nuts, cinnamon, or blueberries/cut up cherries. Or a mixture. I love chopped nuts and seeds in porridge - I just stick them in the coffee grinder for a few seconds.

Any of the stage one or two Ellas kitchen fruit pouches - quick and easy puree with lots of variety!

NorahBone · 12/01/2015 11:00

As an alternative to porridge I use bite size shredded wheat. No sugar or salt and he can pick them up and feed himself. I'd be wary about giving linseed to a small child - it's a powerful laxative!
