My lo is not eating much solids and I was wondering if I am feeding him milk at the wrong time and therefore not hungrey for food. My routine is:

7am cereal - dessert spoon portion + 6oz milk
9.30 milk - 6oz
12.00 dinner - at moment anything from 2 tsp to dessert sppon
15.00 milk - 6oz
17.00 finger foods or as for lunch
19.00 milk - 7oz

What is your routine?

CHEERS

That sounds fine.

Don't worry too much about him eating solids. Milk is the most important thing for him in his first year.

He will start to become more and more interested in food eventually (my DS was about 13 months when he finally clicked into having 3 set meals a day).

Just carry on as you are, and try not to worry about it too much (ignore other parents' boasts about food) - dinner (breakfast/lunch) should be a relaxed, easygoing time, and preferably eating with you (they like to copy and join in) .

Sounds fine to me too. Don't worry.

2.30 milk 6ozs followed by a snack, rich tea or something
5.00 tea same amount as dinner with pudding, pot of fruit or a pot of custard
7.00 milk then bed

as her food is getting lumpier she enjoys it more doing it herself though, she was always quite samll but is now catching up

My dd has breafast consisting of one weetabix/ sachet porridge mate with formula milk and 4/5 oz milk in a bottle for breakfast. A fairly reasonable sized lunch the fruit. tea at about 5 another fairly large meal followed by a 9 oz bottle before bed.

I tend to give her raisins, fruit and only the od yoghurt and sometimes she will have 9 oz vottle during the day.

But... my dd has always been a really hungry baby and milk did not satisfy her. I cook a lot of her food with her milk to try to boost her intake I also tend to grate cheese into her food. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to structure your babys meals and i have found my dd has just settled into her own routine. i do wish she would have more milk though.

Sittingbull, sounds plenty to me - it's just about a pint when you include what you add to the food, and I think that is the recommendation!

I also worry about my little boy not getting enough milk - he has

7 - 5oz bottle followed by cereal with aother 2ish oz on

11.30- lunch with a drink of water or juice

2- 5oz bottle but sometimes will only drink 3oz

4.30 - tea with a drink of water or juice

6.30/7.00 - 7oz bottle - will sometimes leave 1-2oz

so on a good day 19oz, sometimes 15ish. I do add milk to his meals though, give him yoghurt and cheese to try and compensate - is this enough?

btw he is almost 10 months

I asked my hv a few weks ago about how much milk my 8mth old ds should be having now and she said they advise about 21oz.

He has:

7am - 8oz milk
8.30 - weetabix and milk (cows milk)
11am - 4oz milk
12.30 - lunch, petit filous and water
3pm - 4oz milk
4.30 - tea and water
7.30 - 8oz milk
8pm - bed

Mum2FunkyDude · 16/10/2006 21:33

FunkyDude is 10.5 months; weighed 10.5kg at 8 months.

6:00 wakes
6:30 offer his 200ml of milk, sometimes he doesn't want it and I then use it on his weetabix
7:30 Breakfast: usually one weetabix and a frutapura
11:30 Lunch: He gets 2 ice cubes of meat protein and 4 of veg, 2 types of fruit (can be half an orange or banana or a whole peach(small) and a plum). I also give him a piece of cracker bread to chew on, sometimes I give him only finger foods
2:30 200ml of milk (he takes about 150ml)
5:15 dinner usually 8 ice cubes of 2 different types of veg and one small fromage frais.
6:50 milk before bed usually about 140ml

I have to say, he is not a lover of his milk much anymore, he used to drink up to a liter before he was weaned.
