Can I feed my 7.5mth old farm or supermarket goats' milk?

GP suggested we change formula to non-diary non-soy, preferably goats' milk based. Sad I part bf, part formula due to child care arrangements. DC is BLW-ing but doesn't yet eat much mostly just nibbling, so by far majority of calories need to come from bf and formula. I'm at a loss as to products and wonder if, while I look around, I can feed DC some goats' milk to supplement? Any advice?

There's a goats milk formula called Nanny care which is available in some Waitrose supermarkets I think, and certainly online.

Ordinary goats milk could be used in cooking and on cereal but I wouldn't give it as a main drink, for the same reasons that cow's milk isn't suitable as a main drink for under 1s.

Thanks for the advice, Embarrassed. I'll go scour the shelves!

Yes, Chunder, that is what I meant, but only occasionally. Thnks for the link though! Seems obvious I should not, I see. Smile

I would consider goats milk to be a dairy product too so wouldn't use it if you are avoiding dairy products. If the GP wanted you to use a dairy free formula then he should have prescribed one for you. Small amounts of other milks can be used in foods or cooking but shouldn't be given as a main milk drink until 1 year
