Has anyone got the 'Minus Nine to One' book to hand? I borrowed it ages ago, and vaguely remember a recipe for minty peas, but I don't recall the details... would be grateful for enlightenment.

sorry, mine's out on loan.
bump for someone else

Flamesparrow · 26/09/2006 14:57

Jools Oliver did a book???

Obv I can't help, but my incredulation will be a bump anyway

loomer · 26/09/2006 15:10

Yeah, it's a really nice little diary-style book charting her months of pregnancy with DD1 and then shortly after the birth getting pregnant with DD2. I was very sceptical until I read it and enjoyed it, and in the back there's a handful of recipes, which are (as far as I recall) quite nice.

Ahhh - I thought it was just a recipe book. that book I've heard of (didn't know the title)

Twiglett · 26/09/2006 15:23

minty peas?

you can buy minty peas frozen

hulababy · 26/09/2006 15:26

I'll go upstairs and see if I can find it...

hulababy · 26/09/2006 15:28

Got the book, but can;t find anything in the recipe bit for minty peas, sorry!

ProfYaffle · 26/09/2006 15:29

I've just had a look, can't see anything about minty peas though. There's one for butternut squash and mint, is that it?

hulababy · 26/09/2006 15:30

There are the following recipes:

Fruit smoothie
Roasted butternut squash with mint, creme fraiche and pasta
Bolognaise
Chicken casserole
Chicken and rice with sweetcorn
Lemon buttered plaice
Plaice in tomato sauce
Salmon with broccoli and orange
Stewed fruit

hulababy · 26/09/2006 15:31

Surely minty peas is just that - peas with mint. possible pureed together?

Twiglett · 26/09/2006 15:38

as a weaning food you'd have to seive peas because of the skins

not worth it in my opinion

loomer · 26/09/2006 16:30

No, you're right Twiglett, peas isn't a great idea for purees, but I was thinking of whole ones. I dunno, I have obviously invented it in my head - Hulababy, would you mind passing on the squash one, I think that's what I was originally thinking of... it does at least include mint, which is the bit I was excited about.

Ingrediants
1 butternut squash
200g small pasta shapes
2 tablespoons creme fraiche
a small handful of fresh mint, finely chopped

Directions

Preheat oven to 180C/350F/gas mark 8

Wrap the squash in tin foil and place directly onto oven shelp and roast for 1.5 hours

When the squash is cooked put a pot of water on to boil, and then add your pasta to it. This should only need 6-8 minutes, but check pasta packet to be sure.

Take the slightly cooled squash, halve it, remove the seeds and scoop out all the orange squash.

Roughly mash or chop the squash and then mix it with the cooked and drained pasta

Dollop some creme fraiche on the top and stir through to make a creamy sauce.

Sprinkly with the mint.

Thanks for typing it out Hulababy, that's really kind. Have you tried any of them by the way?

OP posts:
hulababy · 26/09/2006 16:52

I haven't actually, lol! I have only recently had my book back again and hadn't had it long before I lent it out.

hulababy · 26/09/2006 16:53

I do fancy that butternet squash sauce though, so might try it next time I get one in my veg box.
