BLW & snacks for 7 month old

waht do u give your 7 month old as snacks - I want to vary his diet a little more,

so far he has a little bread stick, i've tried carrotts sticks (boiled and cooled) - nosed turned up, banana the same, apple/pears the same

apricots/peach/necturines he will eat thou if I give them to him whole (well I hold it and rotate it around so he doens't get down to the stone bit) (not tried that sliced)

he also has those biscotti things - althou i'm not a fan of giving them all the time/every day.

food wise he's just going onto mashed/lumpier foods, touch wood seems to be coping after fridays retching/projectile vomiting witht he first attempt - althou I think this was due to the cold he has.

so what sort of things can I give him - not so fuss about him actually eating it as I was thinking ti's more for him to get the texture/feel etc and i'd still feed him with a spoon so he gets the quantity or do u not do that?

(he'll also manage 1/4 a square of toast)

any help greatly recieved.

have a look at aitch's website - she's got lots of recipes and suggestions. i find asparagus, beans, sugar snaps and baby corn great because they're already in the right shape. just a bit of steaming and there you go.

thanks, we tried him with a bit of cauil and broc tonight with a few carrot sticks - the carrot's went down better this time - perhaps last time they were too big/it takes more than one time to get used to them?

Yeah Munz, it's worth offering things a few times, as I found that DD would turn her nose up one day, but scoff the same thing quite happily the next.

The idea with BLW is not to use spoon/mush at all, but in reality there are a few foods which they all enjoy which are impossible to do without a spoon (yoghurt for example). I am doing a bit of a mixture with DD, if she doesn't seem to have eaten much in the way of BLW stuff at lunchtime I might offer her some mushy stuff with a spoon at tea time.

TBH though, until they are a year old they still get most of their calories from milk, so you don't need to worry too much about how much they are eating, as you say it's more the experience than the actual 'fuel'. It's natural in any case for them to have days where they will eat everything in sight and others where they hardly touch anything at all. Don't worry about it.
