10mo fussy eater

Struggling with weaning my 10mo. He is just so fussy- the only savoury things he will reliably eat are avocado with Philadelphia (sometimes with cucumber/ tomatoes squished in) and broccoli/ cauliflower cheese. Can mix pasta or a bit of puréed chicken into these but other than that he refuses everything I give him. He eats finger foods reasonably well- things like sandwiches, sticks of fruit/ veg but just don't think he gets much down him that way. Anything sweet is not a prob- some days all he eats is fruit and yoghurt. Getting really disheartened with it and fed up of making food for him that ends up in the bin. Please don't tell me to just give him what we eat- I have and he doesn't want it! Feel like he's not having a varied enough diet as I always end up resorting to the things I know he'll eat.
Any suggestions?

I'm not experienced and In fact my DD is 9 months old but my plight sounds similar to yours and I just keep telling myself that good before 1 is just for fun and as long as she has enough milk then she is getting her vitamins, I read today that as long as they eat some and have enough milk then be patient and keep doing what your doing. I decided to go more simplistic where possible and eat what I would also be able to give her so we eat eggs (scrambled or omelette with tiny bits of veg in like onion, tomatoes and today I cut up broccoli)
She likes beans on jacket potato with cheese, she loves cheese cubes and tomato wedges, sweet potato and potato wedges, plain yogurt with mashed or grated fruit, she likes salmon but can't get her on much other meat unless really small pieces in spag Bol (blitzed up with hand blender) and tuna pasta bits, Cous Cous is good and easy to make.
Hope any of that helps and as I keep telling myself, keep calm about it and persist and whatever they do or don't eat then don't worry too much, all will work out in the end Smile
