How does your LO react to food when teething?!

Hi all

DD is 13 months and had always been a rubbish eater. She's just getting to the end of a cold but she was still eating, I just had to make it a bit smoother as she struggled with lumps.
However she's starting to push lumps out with her tongue and has point blank refused to let the spoon near her today. I'm at my wits end. Do I give in and give her smooth/sweet things like rice pudding etc as that's all she'll eat? Or would this cause wrong food associations? I'm not sure if she's teething or not. She's generally ok mood-wise.

How is she with her finger food? Will she still eat that?

I wouldn't offer her anything other than what you usually would, e.g. I would offer a normal savoury main and a normal pudding if you would usually. However I would consider that teething might be an issue, so I might offer favourite main courses and things that are a little easier to eat for now.

Have you tried putting a teething gel on before offering her food as well?

Thanks both. She had a bit of waffle tonight (not ideal choice) and a breadstick. However she kept putting peas in her mouth then shoving them out again. She normally devours her peas!! She was also spitting out her fave cheesy tuna pasta.
Her nose is still a bit blocked, but she's not point blank refused the spoon until tonight.. I caught her gnawing on her hand, hence me wondering if it's teething..

Sometimes having a blocked nose can affect how things taste - maybe the peas/pasta bake didn't seem quite right to her today.

I would stick to usual but easy to eat food for a little while and hopefully she'll be back on form soon.

My daughter goes off her food when teething. She takes more milk.
She seems to like soup which I thicken by adding cous cous - very messy but at least she's full- and I give bread sticks and cucumber sticks to chew on.
