Going abroad with 7 mth old - what do we feed him ?

We are planning to go abroad end of Oct when DS will be about 7 month old.

He is almost 6mth old and have introduced some single purees such as pear & carrot along with baby rice (please don't sue me for not waiting until exactly 6mths) which he enjoys.

I want to serve up as much home made stuff as possible but not sure how to do this on holiday. It will have self catering facilities but don't want to spend much time chained to the kitchen.

Can anyone suggest what I could feed him with on travelling days & also any ideas about when we are there that doesn't take much time to prepare.

Thanks

Is he bfed?

If so, I'd say stick to milk and give him bits of veg off your plate. DS2 is 8mo tomorrow and hasn't had much in the way of food yet.

mashed banana or avacoado is also good travel food.

intergalacticwalrus · 18/09/2006 14:36

beware banana stains like mad.

Bread (unless you are keeping of wheat), mashed up veggies of any kind.

Yes, plastic bibs for banana!!!! I had one of those rubbery tommee tippee ones, they just wipe clean.

We just spent a week travelling with a 7 month old (on 3 meals a day). We didn't have s/c facilities, so were more limited than you will be, but I can recommend the 'Plum Babyfoods' products. They contain just organic veg, water and a little quinoa. Some of them are a bit runny for my DD, but we use them to mix with other fresh veggies. Eg you could get the spinach, parnip and basil one and just mix it with some mashed potatoes, which would be quick for you to do.

IGW - I was being polite after your helpful advice and not mentioning the typo !
CSWS - Where do you get plum baby food, just googled it and it looks good.

I saw it first in Waitrose, but have also def seen it in Sainsbury's recently. Can't remember if Tesco do it or not.
