DS almost 11 months old. He was EBF until 6 months and I introduced solids at this point. It was slow. He played with food that was offered in the baby led weaning vein, but barely even licked anything. He was not keen on purees although he did seem to like porridge. Everyone told me that it would happen when he was ready and I just kept offering food, and breastfeeding. He was growing well.

At 9 months, things seem to really pick up and before long he was happily taking three meals a day. I spoon fed him, partly because I am going back to work next week and was keen that he would be able to get the hang of feeding so that he can manage nursery. I thought we were out of the woods, until I got him weighed last week and found that he has gained nothing in the past seven weeks. More worrying is that for the past week he has refused most things apart from natural yoghurt and fruit purees. He will not take things that he has devoured before. He has just started to feed himself toast, but he takes very little in. Lots of other finger food gets dropped on the floor after an exploratory lick.

The health visitor was not concerned about the weight, but I am! If he did not gain anything while he was eating well, whatever will happen now that he is eating next to nothing?

Where do I go from here?

I have no experience on this (yet) but didn't want to read and run. How much would you have expected to gain if you looked at his charts? Growth does slow the older babies get, and at least over the 7 weeks he hasn't lost weight. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon, but if he's still eating continue to offer choices and then give what he does eat afterwards if needs be.

My daughter was a milk fiend until 14/15 months. Barely ate a thing, to the point that she still had yellow milk poo most of the time. I was tearing my hair out with the stress of it all but one day she just decided she wanted to eat and we haven't looked back since! She's not a big eater at all (she turned two a couple of weeks ago) and she's got a limited range, but she does eat at least. She still goes berserk when I get the milk out and I think if I let her she'd happily have milk and nothing else Shock

I wonder perhaps if your little boy is teething? Keep the milk up if he doesn't want anything else.

My DD had a month or so like that at 11mths. She's just turned a year and she's getting much more into it again now! Weight gain slows down anyway - DD has only gained 2lb in 2months, so try not to worry and give him what he will eat!
