Introducing cow's milk

DD is 12mo and I'm starting to think about introducing cow's milk to slowly replace her formula and also to move her off the bottle. She has three bottles at the moment and is pretty good with a sippy cup (the Tommee Tippee free flow one).

Was wondering how others have done it? I've given her the odd taste and she seems fine with it. Should I mix it with formula at first? Or just introduce it at meals and then replace one bottle at a time?

As for replacing bottles, is there any issue with going straight to a sippy cup? Or is any other type of beaker a better option? We have the cow print one but she seems to struggle with the valve..

She's a wee little thing so I'm keen that she keeps her milk intake up. HVs are a little thin on the ground near me so would be grateful for any tips!

has she never had it in cereal? I did it by substituting 1 feed at a time e.g. you could keep am and pm as formula and give a cup of cows milk at the daytime feed and see how she gets on.

Thanks for the reply. She has been having milk in cereal for a while with no problem.

I offered her some in a sippy cup and she loved it! She only had around 50mls though, at the most, and usually has around 150mls of formula. I've only been offering it as a drink with her meal so far but will try substituting one of her formula feeds with cow's milk and see how she gets on.

She has been a little constipated for the past two evenings which may or not be related. One to watch I suppose.

The constipation could have been the heat and not enough fluids. How is she now? Have you managed to swap one of the bottles?

Between one and two she only needs 300mls a day and this can include milk used on cereals and in cooking and yogurt, so don't worry too much as long as she is getting that Smile
