9 month DD doesn't like spoons, any tips?

Well, she actually loves the spoon itself, to chew on, but spoon feeding is a bit of a battle! Generally I make meals things she can feed herself, but it leaves out so many options that she does like, but can't feed herself - yoghurt, porridge etc. it's a massive battle to get one spoonful in, which I hate doing, then she realises she likes it when she tastes it, and will be spoon fed but only with the distraction of having something to play with. I think it bores her just sitting there & being passively fed.

If I leave a bowl of something there she'll just put her hands in it and play with it - does the novelty wear off? Would she maybe start slurping it off her fingers? Just not sure I can face that level of mess, but maybe I should? Any tips welcomed Grin

I just gave ds his own spoon, sometimes dipped it into the food so he could use it like a lollipop. When he opened his mouth for his spoon I put my full spoon in.
Now (a month later) he is fine with me feeding him things like this as he likes them.

Finger food is your friend. Embrace the mess!

Will she take a loaded spoon? And yes to two spoons. One to hold and one for the floor Wink

YY to two spoons, great idea! She's ok with loaded spoons but the stuff needs to be pretty thick & sticky - fromage frais is fine, even when the spoon is upside down it stays on! Anything thin would go everywhere before getting the right end in her mouth.

Yesterday after posting this I thought I would just embrace the mess & she did get the hang of slurping purée from her fingers while I sneakily fed spoonfuls... Perhaps I just need a bigger plastic mat Grin... And to relax about it!
