Hi there,
DS really into finger food which I'm trying to encourage - he's almost 10.5 months, is he too young to try salami or pepperoni (salt content...)? I thought mini pizzas would be perfect b/c he already loves bread, cheese, veggies, and a good way to introduce some meat...

Could you make the pizza yourself, using things like tuna, sweetcorn, chicken etc, at least then you are in control of the salt content.

I second making your own, you can buy bases or use mini naans or french bread? My kids love making them and my 7 month old loves eating them!

thanks you two - i was planning to make my own - inspired by AK's recipe where she uses puff pastry as a base. never thought of using chicken or tuna - duh! good to hear your 7-month-old loves them.
thanx

Making the bases is really really easy if you've got a breadmaker - then you can put in less salt than the commercially available ones and you know what else has gone in them. My breadmaker only takes 45 minutes to make the dough so it's dead easy.

I followed up on this idea and made pizzas for us and my 9 month old for tea today. I didn't put any salt in the dough and it was fine. Did a cheese, tomato and veggies one and a spinach and cream cheese one. My little one loved both flavours.
Aitch - if you're reading this thread how do I post my recipes onto your BLW site? I only know how to post comments.

I did pizza yesterday for us, my aged grandfather (90) and ds (10 months). It had tomato sauce (made with some sweated onion, garlic and a tim of toms, cooked then blended), mozzarella, sweet pepper and pepperoni! DS and Grandpapa ate the same amount and G was amazed at how much ds appeared to enjoy it
