2 courses or 1?

Just wondering what everyone else does, and at what age. I currently give DD (2.2) and DS (9 months) 2 courses at lunch and dinner, eg savoury followed by fruit/yoghurt/custard etc. Do LO's just naturally drop the yoghurt etc after their meal or did you stop giving it to them?

I really thought everyone did it this way until DD started nursery, they give a savoury lunch with no afters, but give a yoghurt/custard etc as a snack later in the day. Got me thinking!

DS is almost 3, sometimes I give two courses, usually fruit or yoghurt and sometimes I don't, it depends on the time and what we are doing. If I don't give it at dinner then I will usually give it as a snack later.

I always give a fruit/yogurt/pudding after lunch and dinner, read Annabel's meal planner and thought I was doing it wrong as she states to give 2 course for breakfast too I suppose its your/baby choice hun. Try finger fruits/snacks if you don't wanna give 2 course, or try just giving it and see the reaction. Anyone got any tips on feeding meals, my nearly 8mo will only eat packet foods Sad

I've never given puddings after every meal, and never after breakfast. I usually give a second course after one meal a day, sometimes lunch sometimes dinner.

MrsMuskett, if you want to get your 8mo old to eat homemade meals, you need to keep offering them for every mealtime and don't give an alternative if they are refused. Eventually your baby will get used to them. If you don't give them the opportunity to experience freshly cooked food, then they won't have the opportunity to learn to like them.
