When to move on from single purees?

We've been giving dd2 (5.5mths) pureed food for a week now and she seems really keen - the total opposite of dd1 who pretty much hated eating until she was 3!

We've just been offering food once a day at lunchtime (although she has grabbed at food from our plates at dinner time - boiled potato and a chunk of avocado).

She's ao far had butternut squash, pear, avocado, carrots&peas and banana. Started off quite sloppy and smooth but has got slightly lumpier over the week (when I hand mashed stuff instead of blending) and she seems happy with that, and has mastered the art of taking the food right into her mouth and 'chewing' it, as opposed to spitting it straight out.

So should I keep up with just basic fruit and veg for 2 more weeks (when she reaches 6mths), or can I now go for more normal combinations - so including meat, dairy etc? Or toast with butter, soft cheese sandwich finger etc?

Also, when do I move to two and then three meals a day?

Sorry this is really long and dull! I just have forgotten everything since Dd1 was weaning!

p.s. I am up for doing pureeing and finger food - not fussed about doing either exclusively.

6.5 month old I look after has 3 meals a day - porridge, veg, veg - we have mixed mashed potato with things but at the moment are just doing single purees but I also offer finger food ie chunks of veg, toast, rusk - will introduce meat etc at 7 months.

I would carry on as you are til she is 6 months.
I did a mix of purée and finger foods too and it was very successful.
I wouldn't worry too much just let her keep trying stuff and go with the flow!

Thanks!

Also, I bought some baby porridge today that says it's for 7mths+ - if she's accepted slightly lumpy food already, why would I need to keep the porridge for another 6wks? I can't imagine it's unpalatably lumpy - even normal porridge isn't!!

The age suggestions are mainly to cover the food producers ass.
If she's happy with lumps then go for it.

The porridge probably contains cows milk, which should be avoided until 6 months. NHS advice is to avoid wheat, gluten, nuts, peanuts, peanut products, seeds, liver, eggs, fish, shellfish, cows’ milk and soft or unpasteurised cheese until 6 months due to allergies.

Ok thanks. I'll leave the porridge for another two weeks then.
