How much milk?

DS is 8 months old and well into 3 meals a day now. He is breasted as well, and his always refused milk in a bottle. He does however, take a few gulps of water from a cup when eating food.
I noticed on the formula label which I use for his cereal, that babies of this age should be having a pint of milk a day. Ds breast feeds 3 or 4 times a day with a short night feed also. I am now worried that he's not getting enough milk? How on earth would I know if he's getting a pint? I never worried when he was solely on milk as he was feeding all the time but now I'm worried.

The information on the label is for fully formula fed babies only. It doesn't apply to breastfeeding, and it makes no sense to try and measure the amount of breastmilk a baby has.

As long as you are feeding your baby on demand then you'll be fine. It sounds about right to me at the moment, by the way.

Breastmilk changes as your baby gets older and is always suitable for your baby's stage.

As a separate point - not sure if you known this but you don't need to use formula on cereal. Full fat cows milk is fine to use in cooking from 6 months (just not as a main drink).

Thanks. That seems sensible. I just had the fear all of a sudden that he was getting dehydrated or not getting enough nutrients. He has plenty of wet nappies though so I know he's not dehydrated really.
