I am about to begin week 4 of weaning my DD (she is now just over 6 and half months) . The first 2 weeks we did just breakfast (most of the time consisting of porridge (mostly with banana added, sometimes with pear or apple purée added). Last week I introduced solids around tea time so we're now on 2 meals a day.

I am doing a mixture of BLW and spoon feeding. Spoon feeding at breakfast and finger foods at tea time. However I have been really stuck 4 ideas on what finger foods 2 give her so have ended up doing a bit of spoon feeding.

I really like the idea of BLW but would welcome suggestions of what 2 give her.

Thanks

Do you eat with her? Just have a look at your plate and offer anything suitable. Eg roast dinner, give a bit of meat, roast potato, Yorkshire pudding and veg. Casserole, give some chunks of meat and veg. Etc

She rarely seems 2 eat when I do (although would like that to happen). Myself and my husband eat dinner after she's gone to bed. It'd b way too early to eat when she eats

What I often did was to save some of last nights dinner for me/DP for my DS the next day. Saves cooking twice, as long as what you cook is suitable for a baby eg no added salt, no honey.

Part of the point of BLW is to give your baby normal family food, not to have to cook something different for them. However that doesn't always work for a variety of reasons.

If you do have to cook something separately for the baby, there are loads of things to try eg pasta with a variety of sauces (pesto, tomato, carbonara) and steamed veg, noodles and veg, roast vegetable wedges (sweet potato, squash are good), omelette strips, savoury muffins, grated cheese and apple on toast, sticky rice and veggies with meat (I'm veggie so would do tofu or something like that). I could go on!

The River Cottage Baby & Toddler cook book has some lovely recipes that are nice for babies and adults. The courgette polpettes are particularly nice.
