How much milk?!

We are about 2 weeks in to weaning and my lo is having 3 meals a day (porridge/ fruit and veg purées). We don't have a set routine for breastfeeding but she will feed when she gets up, before lunch, mid afternoon, around tea time and bedtime. Sometimes she drops the mid afternoon feed. She doesn't feed during the night and hasn't done for a while. Does this sound about right? Should I be feeding her just before every meal or at different times?
She is 23 weeks :)

3 meals a day seems a lot at 23 weeks, especially if she is dropping feeds. The purees will fill her tummy but won't provide the calories she needs for her growth and development. Its your BM she really needs at this age, it doesn't really matter if she eats anything Smile

In the NHS information on starting solids they suggest only moving to 3 meals between 8 and 9 months.

Have you read So How Do We Get Started With Solids on kellymom and the MN Weaning Info? Both are very good Smile

Thank you for your reply! I upped her meals because the HV said she was old enough to have more food? But she wasn't too interested in her dinner today because she had more bm around tea time so I will maybe try dropping her last meal to make sure she has more milk instead.
Thanks for the links too. I am new to all of this so it is great to have more info :)

Your HV appears to be giving out outdated advice. She should be giving out information in line with the nhs guidelines which are "milk is enough for your baby until 6 months" and as i mentioned before to build upto 3 meals between 8 and 9 months.

Lots of people, including the la Leche league recommend bfing roughly an hour before solids for the first year.

At this age solids are more about exploring taste and texture, learning to use a cup and enjoying sitting at the table and watching you eat.

Your BM really is enough Smile
