Help! 9 month old not taking formula!

Hi Can anyone suggest how I can get my DD to take more milk? She currently takes about 8oz on waking, has another 1oz with cereal and until this week would take another 8oz before bed.

Alternatively you can tell me to chill out and stop being so neurotic!

don't worry. is she taking other fluids? you can add the calcium from cheese or fromage frais etc.

She'll take about 4-5oz of water/jiuice at lunch and another 2oz at teatime. I'm giving her yoghurt everyday and adding milk into her meals too but there's only so much you can sneak in!

How much solids do you offer?
Is it possible she is teething and the teat hurts her gums?
1 small petit filous = a sixth of a pint of milk.
Have you tried another brand of formula?
How long has she been on formula?

She's been on formula since 6 weeks old went on to SMA white at about 4 months, and she's taking food really well - eats anything I give her. Yes, she could be teething as she hasn't produced any teeth yet! Also seems to have the start of a cold ( just heard her cough!) What other formula would you suggest - follow on?

I use Aptamil as it contains pre-biotics, it helps to keep their tummy regular, my ds got constipated with sma. I sometimes have the odd 2-3 days that he goes off formula, and usually he gets back on, it has been his teeth, but also if he eats too much solids he drops in his milk intake. He usually takes around 14-16oz from the bottle, the rest is in his food.

Is this the first time she's done it? I think you might find she is not feeling very well and her appetite has probably gone down a bit. As long as she is taking water/juice as not to dehydrate she will be fine.

I often give my ds (also 9 months) a bit of redbush tea. It is caffeine free, he doesn't take juice at all.

My dd went right off formula once she was weaning. I tried everything I could think of to up her intake and she just wasn't interested. She was having about 8-10fl oz a day max so in the end I just left her to it. She's just turned 1 and that's still all she has. She has a cup of juice around all day that she just drinks when she wants so I think she probably manages another 6 - 9 fl oz of liquids through the day. I also make sure she has a cereal that soaks up lots of milk like shreddies or weetabix, or I give her porridge. She also loves chunks of cheese so she has those as a snack.

TBH, I wouldn't worry, she may well go back to her bedtime bottle again soon. Little things like colds, teething, sore throats can all put them off their milk. She won't come to any harm!!

Thanks for your advice! I had problems with DD being constipated when she first went over the SMA but since she's taking food that has most definitely not been a problem! Nappies are still wet and she seems happy enough so I'm probably worrying unnecessarily!

Thanks for taking the time to chat

Oh, meant to say as well, broccoli, dark green leafy veg, tofu, some nuts and seeds, beans and pulses all contain calcium too.
