Heating food versus warming it up

Hi ladies,
I got given this as a present
Infantino Fresh Squeezed Squeeze Station by Infantino www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009IVKY7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_lh6ztb0344T4R

And on reading the reviews everyone let the food either thaw or warm up in warm water. I went on the American amazon site (to read the reviews there as it seems very popular there) and everyone seems to do that too.
I was under the impressions that you have to properly heat/boil the food before you give to your baby , or does that only apply to meals with meat in it ? Many thanks !

I would imagine that all food that has been prepared/cooked and then cooled/frozen should be reheated to piping hot before serving, irrespective of whether it contains meat. Food could be cross-contaminated, or pick up bugs from unclean hands etc.

The shop bought pouches go through a variety of processes to ensure that the contents are free from germs, hence they can be stored at ambient temperatures and not in the fridge/freezer. Those are safe to eat from room temp.

On another note, I can't believe the gadgetry that is targeted at parents! It's nice that someone gave you this, but I hope no one shells out £25 for it. Plus the cost of the pouches themselves. When I started weaning DS I bought some children's plates, cutlery and cups and that was it. 'Twas not too expensive!

Thanks for the reply. I haven't started weaning yet so it's all new to me.
I'm just surprised to read all the feedback on those food pouches where parents just warm the pouch up with warm water....

What a weird present. Love the bit where it says Create on the go baby food in 4 easy steps and that's easier than taking a sandwich and some strawberries or feeding them off your plate how exactly?

I wanted to double check that I was right about the reheating, and so did a bit of googling. Here's the Food Safety .GOV website that confirms what I was saying.

I guess that all those people who just warm the pouches are thinking that it's just like the ready made pouches. Rather than realising that it's just like if you had frozen it in an ice cube tray.

Sorry, here's the Food Safety.gov link.

Thanks that is very helpful !
