Switching from Soya milk to cow's milk

My daughter developed an intolerance to baby formula after a terrible bout of sickness and diarrhoea, and has been drinking soya milk for the last 6 mos. As she is now one we would like to switch her to cow's milk and would be grateful if you could give us some advice on how to proceed. She is fine with ordinary cheese and fromage....
Many thanks

Can I ask why you want to switch to cows milk, just wondering?

I will mix a small amount with her soya milk and increase it gradually over a week. That way the change of flavour won't come as a shock and you would have some time to check if she is tolerating it OK.

HTH.

skippy my ds did exactly the same, couldnt tolerate milk after a serious d&v bout. He was on soya for about 8 weeks, then I started giving him one ounce less a day, so would give him 6oz of soya and 1oz of milk in separate bottles. Finally worked our way down to no soya and is now back on proper milk full time.

Good luck

Thanks to everyone for their very useful advice.

With regards to sorkycake's question why do I want to switch, I was advised that this intolerance may be just temporary. We did try to switch back to formula after 4 mos but this was unsuccessful. We were then advised to try again and once DD reaches the age of one to introduce cow's milk. Aside from wanting DD to be able to eat a wide variety of diary products, there is also the cost implication - Baby Soya milk formula is soooo expensive.

thanks again

My DS is exactly the same. He is now 18 months and I am just trying to get him to take the cows milk by watering down the formula as suggested. I've been getting the soya milk formula on prescription from my GP. If the intolerance is still there I would go down that route. I've not paid for one tub of the formula.
