right i've just left dh feeding dd as I was getting stressed, she is going thro a phase (god I hope it is) of spitting food out and then putting it back in her mouth or putting it back in the bowl (she's skinny enough as it is) should I be offering her something else savoury or move straight onto desert (she is 13mths)

moving straight onto dessert = if you behave like this, you get pudding....hmmmmmmmmmm
but she is v little

Is she eating it when she puts it back in her mouth or does it get spat out again repeatedly? If she is eating it eventually - let her eat it and try and ignore the mess/playing

If she isn't eating it I would say this means she is playing with the food and doesn't want to eat. Why not take the food away and get her down?

Try not to make it a battle. If she seems hungry a bit later offer her something nutritious but a bit boring (bread and butter, fruit or whatever) then try again at her next meal.

BTW I would ptobably offer the yopghurt before getting her down but you may find she plays with that too - If so she is probably definitley not hungry. If she gobbles it up she probably didn't like the main course. We are allowed to have preferences so you could maybe offer something else that is savory after the yoghurt and see if she tries that.

i would say it needs ignoring as she will notice it is annoying you and apparently, food is easily used as a weapon by childreb as we worry about them not eating enough.
i know its annoying, ds keeps feeding the dogs which really pisses me off when ive made something especially for him and the dog gets it.
dont forget, a healthy child will not starve herself!
