Weaning

If your 15 month happily ate everything, what would you feed them?

I thought I was going ok, he has toast and porridge for brekkie and I batch cook so he has a proper lunch and dinner.

However this week he has eaten raw red pepper, fine green beans, passion fruit! and I realised I really could be giving him so more diversity and I'm actually limiting him when I should be expanding his palette.

Does anyone have any ideas on a great balanced daily mix of foods? I was thinking of maybe making lunch more about veggies and dips or something.

He has fruit after each meal, handful of blueberries, banana, clementine etc.

Thanks.

Last night mine had the Hairy Dieters veg and bean stew. How about trying that. I'm sure it would be fine for you too as it's virtually just vegetables. The Hairy Dieters Korma is tasty too. How about having that? You could have it with salad or steamed veg and your boys could have rice, naan or cous cous with the curry Smile

At 15 months my DS was very fond of tinned sardines on toast. Maybe try that one Smile

I've no idea if it's all babies - but it seems that way given comments on this thread and from friends - but I think they like strong flavours. DS has all kinds of curries and eats what we do. I started making a spicy butternut squash soup, which he loved. It seemed like the perfect place to hide lots of veg so over time it's morphed into a vegetable soup with masses of broccoli, kale, leeks, swede and carrots in it. I chuck in a big spoonful of garam Marsala as a lazy way to spice up and flavour the soup, then stir in some goats milk yoghurt at each serving. It now also has figs in it because he's lactose intolerant and when researching, figs come up high for calcium.

I know at some point I will need to address him eating veg for their own sake instead of disguised but - it's a massively quick win. Lots of veg and done very simply. Could you try something like that? One batch lasts a week and is a good lunch.

Agree. My now fussy 6 yo would happily trough on curries and strong flavoured food as a baby, in fact the stronger the flavour the more she ate.

How are you getting on now sebs?
