10 month old becoming more and more fussy

My 10 month old started off eating really well -accepted everything we offered him (both purees and finger food). He then started to become fussier and fussier and now rejects most things (both new things and stuff he liked before) and is eating very little solids. He will usually eat toast (but not if I put things on it) fruits, a courgette/potato purée and mini pasta shapes with a basic tomato sauce. He's ebf and still feeding 4 times a day and 2/3 times overnight. Sleep is also not going well he feeds to sleep for naps but doesn't always work and wakes up to 8 times a night. Any advice?

I should also have mentioned that he's on the 98th centile for weight (has always been big) so clearly getting calories he needs from milk.

I would guess it is just a bit of a fussy phase, and that there's not much you can do other than keep offering a range of food alongside things you know he'll try.

Sorry, not the most helpful of suggestions, just didn't want to leave your post unanswered!

Thanks, he's been a bit more adventurous today - not eaten lots but at least not flat out rejected so hopefully he'll be back to his old self soon

I am having a very similar experience. My 10 month old started out eating absolutely everything we offered her, but is getting more and more fussy. We are mostly switching to formula, having breastfed up until now, and she's having two bottles a day plus one bf so I know she's getting nourishment, and she does eat bits and bobs of solids. So I am just not going to worry about it, I assume it's a phase that will pass.

Hi, it's really common for babies to start out eating anything and then hit a fussy phase. Unless it gets to the point that she's not getting enough nutrition, the best thing to do is just keep offering a range of foods and not get stressed about whether she eats them or not. Some babies get fussy about textures rather than tastes, so it's worth trying foods in different formats (DS will eat avocado if it's mashed and spread on toast, but not as a whole slice). It's also worth trying having lunch out and about at friend's houses or cafés - some children eat better with a distraction or following the example of other children. If she will eat a basic tomato pasta sauce, could you try sneaking in some grated or puréed veg?
