9 month old blw - snacks and mik?

Hi

As I am a ftm and new to this all, I am after some advice. We have been weaning our 9 month old for 3 months now and are now on three meals a day - well sometimes ;)

I was wondering when milk should start being reduced and should I be offering snacks.

This is a rough idea of how our day goes:

6.30 am breakfast (porridge fingers/pancakes/fruit etc)
7am - bottle (normally has 4-6oz)
10.30/11am - bottle 6oz
1pm - lunch (omelette, pitta, potato, veg, leftovers etc)
3pm ish - bottle (anywhere between 1 and 5 oz)
5pm - dinner (our leftovers from night before, fruit, yogurt)
7pm - bottle (3-5oz)

Does this seem about right? Feel like we are using bottles as snacks - should we be? Should we be offering snacks at all?

Thank you all - who would have thought a simple thing like feeding your child could be so hard!?

It looks like between 14 and 22oz of formula a day? Up until 12 months they need 17-20oz a day minimum so what you're doing looks fine to me!

I would drop the 3pm one and see what happens, replace it with a bit fruit or something and a drink in a cup.

I'm going with trial and error regarding weaning and the use of ready made cartons if required.

Why would you need to drop one and replace it with fruit? Does fruit have more nutritional value or calories than the milk?

If they are naturally not wanting one and maybe just want a drink, then give something else. But as I read the post again I noticed that meal time bottles have already been dropped. So probably fine just now.

Milk was DS's snack till around a year. He then lost interest in the afternoon feed (meaning he either refused it completely or occasionally had a tiny amount) and, soon after, the morning one. So I started offering snacks instead. I would definitely let your baby lead the way with dropping feeds rather than you making the decision as that's what blw is all about.
