First tastes- before or after usual milk feed?

Dc1 is not 3 yet but I've already forgotten what I did and now its time for dc2!

So for first tastes eg baby rice, do I give a taste before or after a usual milk feed and the. Keep doing it in that order for now?

I'd keep milk feeds the same and give food some time afterwards e.g. I used to leave an hour after milk before giving food.

Thank you! It's surprising how quickly I've forgotten everything from first time around!

I will be doing the same and ideally starting with teatime only. Try to give food as near to meal times as possible.

I find dd is far more interested in food when were eating anyway.

Agree current advice is to offer solids an hour after their usual milk feed, this is to stop them dropping their milk feeds too quickly. It's also advised to to go to 3 meals until they are between 8 and 9 months. The signs of readiness for weaning are here and foods to avoid are here.

If your baby is meeting the signs of readiness I'd not bother with the baby rice, it's artificially sweet and has little nutritional value. I'd just give them something you are having Smile

After normal milk feed - just offer once a day to start off with and do it when they're happy and willing to try new things

After milk. They don't yet associate foods with quelling hunger and they can get hungry and cross. It's best to feed them when they are happy
