Just wanted some advice. DD is 8months.

At the weekend, we are going to order a takeaway. We are staying away from home. Is it ok to give DD some too? Or do I need to make her something and bring it with us?

Will probably be either pizza or fish & chips.

Just am not sure if its too salty/ greasy for her.

I wouldn't personally. I'd take something with me...a home made ready meal. Or if you use them buy one of those pouches?

Pancakeflipper · 19/11/2013 18:12

You could do the fish (if not smothered in salt with a few chips).

Wouldn't do pizza, very salty.

Pancakeflipper · 19/11/2013 18:13

I meant to say you can take the batter off the fish as that's the greasy bit.

vestandknickers · 19/11/2013 18:18

Definitely not. Either take something with you or just let her have something like bananas or avocado and maybe some toast with her milk just for one night.

JoinTheDots · 19/11/2013 18:18

Yeah, some of the white fish would be ok, and possibly a couple of chips without salt on them - but they might be too greasy, depends on the take away. I would not give pizza, they are packed with salt, sugar and all sorts of crap according to the website ingredients list.

Probably better off taking a little picnic of finger foods in a tupaware or buying a jar or a pouch if she likes them.

howmuchwouldyoutake · 19/11/2013 18:18

No harm in giving her a few chips and some fish (just whip the batter off if it's greasy) as a one off at all - i'd probably do that over pizza but honestly, it's not poison and as you've thought about it it's obviously not something you plan on giving germ regularly! I bet she'll love it :-)

IfIDontKnowAndYouDontKnow · 19/11/2013 18:21

OK, mixed response, more so on the not to.

I'm not sure. She has whatever we eat normally. Home cooked & cut/ mashed etc.

Just saying so that I can give an overall impression of her diet.

DH and I are obviously a bit carefree then Blush DS is 11mo, on the odd occasion that we've had takeaway or eaten out since we started weaning at 6mo we always give him a little bit of something we have. An unsalted chip (not usually that greasy where we get them, though obviously they will have been fried at some point) and pizza crusts are great (though, in my defence, they are naice stonebaked sourdough pizzas Grin). Your DD is also only 8mo so it's not like she will be relying on a big dinner at this stage, like someone else said you can easily give toast, banana etc alongside, milk is still her main thing.

So, from over this way, we wouldn't see a problem with a few bites. We don't offer lots as his main meal though, we do still offer some regular easy-to-pack food alongside - s'all about balance!

I'm pretty fussy about my diet and DD's but as a one off I wouldn't think twice about fish without batter and a plain chip or two. I'd take some cucumber or something as well.

weeblueberry · 25/11/2013 11:28

We've given DD pizza crusts (from a nice Italian place-not Pizza Hut) and even a bit of green pepper from the top. I also shocked DP by sending him a photo of us at the Chinese buffet the other day. Thought he was going to have a heart attack til I sent him another photo of her with a bit cucumber and peach Wink

tweetytwat · 25/11/2013 11:29

When we had chippy on holiday at that age, so did the baby. Just no salt on the chips. He loved it.

Artandco · 25/11/2013 11:36

I would give some fish. Like others said she will be having milk still and you can add a banana or something
