Does this sound enough veg and fruit for 7.5m?

DD was weaned at 18w (GP advised due to reflux) so has been on solids for a while now.

At the mo her standard day would look something like: (not including her milk feeds, she has about 25oz of milk still each day)

Breakfast: (if anything, often she just has her milk) a few spoons of porridge with a mashed up strawberry and a few blueberries

Lunch: homemade bolognese sauce made with turkey, carrot, broccoli, leek, with tiny pasta shapes, plus a few spoons of mashed avocadp, followed by cubes of cheese and a cut up strawberry, or apple purée in yoghurt.

Supper: rice pudding (a no sugar version from annabel karmel) with puréed baked peach, a couple of toast fingers.

If we are out and about I give her snacks of cheese cubes or fingers of ripe banana. Or a few flakes of homemade cheese straw as a treaty snack.

Does this sound about right on the fruit and veg quantities? It doesn't sound much...

Also am struggling with the whole how-much-to-blend issue... She isn't wild about thicker foods or too many lumps... It's getting better but still a struggle and I am paranoid about the choking thing. At 7.5m (with no teeth) should I be trying to fork mash rather than blitz? I don't think she would accept that yet and she loves her food so I don't want to put her off!!!

It sounds great, a small amount of fruit or veg at each mealtime is good. As for the blending she is still very young so I'd blend to her taste then begin adding a tiny bit of mashed to the blended stuff or just leave slightly thicker. My DS was a nightmare with this stage. I ended up just adding lumps to smooth things and he found that easier. I thus added some cheerios or raisins to his porridge or weetabix, some cubes of bread to his soup and some sweetcorn or peas to his mashed potato.

Thanks Sharon!! It just seems small quantities each time but then I guess the total quantity she eats is fairly small anyway...

It sounds great. At the moment it's about getting them to try new foods, her milk will be providing her with all the vitamins that she needs. You could start introducing more finger foods too, strips of roasted veg, a well cooked carrot, baby sweetcorn, broccoli are popular with babies and easy to hold.

Don't worry about the lack of teeth, their gums are really hard and they are well able to cope with food without them!

Wow you make me look like I'm starving my 10 month old! That's a great menu!

Note to self. Get a move on with food.

Glad to hear I'm on the right track!!! That's a great suggestion re roasted veg etc, can babies eat sweet peppers? Thinking strips of that could be a good finger food or snack option?
