What finger foods for a six month old

Hello All...my little boy is six months this week and is dying to eat more finger foods. At the minute he is having 2 meals a day, which seems to be enough, but I have given him a hunk of cucumber to suck on and he loves it! So my question is, what else can I give him for finger foods...I bought some Heinz Biscotti, but they broke off in too big pieces, so they scared me. He has had Farleys Rusks (v. messy) rice cakes (they seem okay) So any other suggestions??

Banana, very ripe pear, avocado, melon, all very messy but soft. DD loves bread crusts, it goods really soggy.

hi racheeeee
i have given my baby steamed sweet potato, courgette, broccoli, green beans, asparagus, carrot and raw cucumber, among other things that i can't quite think of at the moment. she also likes roast sweet potato, which is nice for adults too.
the cucumber and steamed carrot is great for taking out as it's not messy. just cut it into chip-sized pieces. as a matter of interest i did an infant resus class at the local hospital, i'd recommend it, you just feel so much more comfortable about seeing the baby gag. i've never had to use my resus skills, though, i'm glad to say!

pitta bread fingers; sandwich (one piece of bread, no crusts cut into 2 squares - dd loves it with dairylea); grated cheese; apple; watermelon (dissolves quicker than others); crumpets; omelette instrips; penne pasta; bread sticks; broccolli; baby sweetcorn; fine green beans; red/yellow pepper

found it easier to give steamed baby carrots and cut courgettes into finger size chunks rather than rounds - my dd then sucks out the flesh and throws skin on floor.

everything gonna be messy for a few months - invest in a plastic sheet for the floor.

Cheese, breadsticks, raisins, watermelon cut in to great long sticks, Cow & Gate do savoury fingers which are similar to breadsticks. Bread, toast.

by the way, how do you serve the cheese? i noticed lexiemum grates it, how does this work? i tried to cut it into chip-sized-ish pieces but they just fell apart. might be the chees i suppose, any ideas?

I just chop it randomly, usually into chip shapes but if they want it, they'll pick it up however it is! Medium cheddar shouldn't be too crumbly.

aaaah, it probably was the cheese. i thought i'd start her off on vintage cheddar as it's what we have in the house. (By vintage i just mean supermarket smelly, btw, not something i've aged in my cheese cellar). anyway, some emdium cheddar might fall apart less in future.
cheers

medium, not emdium. must pop down to my imaginary cheese cellar (fast becoming my favourite room in the house) for some,

Bet that emdium cheddar had one hell of strong flavour! Don't be surprised if the lo was a bit perturbed!!! Pop down to the cellar and see if you have any more! Arf arf...

(i am now hiding in my cheese cellar. i may never resurface). cheers, all.
