We started weaning at 6 months and my now one year old was always keen on food though never a massive eater.
Fast forward 6 months and I don't feel like we've got all that far. If anything I feel like we're going backwards. He refused the spoon to begin with so by default we BLWed. He's now fine with being spoon fed, but usually only accepts about 4 or 5 mouthfulls before pushing it away. Sometimes he's keen to feed himself, but more often than not he'll feed himself a bit, and then swipe everything off his highchair tray and onto the floor. He's always a lot more enthusiastic when it's mum or dad's food off our plates, and when he's not sitting in a highchair but on our laps, but it's insanely messy that way and not practical to feed him like that as a matter of course.
It's driving me slightly mad. I'd be more relaxed about it, but I'm still geting up 1-2 times in the night to feed him and I'd really rather not. I'm back at work now and I'm pretty knackered. I kinda assumed he'd be well onto food by now, but he's really not. How can I cut his reliance on milk?
I suppose the answer is obvious - stop giving him the milk! We tried night-weaning about 6 weeks ago and it was hell, so we gave up. Should I just try that again? I actually enjoy BFing and would like to continue in the morning and before bed.. just not through the night! argh!
