And showing no "signs" of being ready for food.

He had a fussy week or so around 17wo, but I just fed him more. And guess what? He settled. So had I given him baby rice then, no doubt I'd have said it was that that settled him.

Anyhoo.

What should his first food be, do you think?

Go on give him a chocolate button!

Ledodgyherring · 26/06/2006 23:41

Rich tea biscuits go nice and soft dipped in a cuppa. Excellent first food.

schneebly · 26/06/2006 23:43

my neighbour gave her DS tea biscuits as a first food at 2 months to try and get him to sleep better !

schneebly · 26/06/2006 23:43

She is a bit mental though!

Ledodgyherring · 26/06/2006 23:45

I suggested it because i left my ds with mil the other day and she told me she nearly gave him them because she thought they'd go nice and soggy in a cup of tea my face was a picture!

schneebly · 26/06/2006 23:49

Ahh the MIL! It was my aunty who gave DS1 white chocolate before he was weaned and he was up all night throwing up! Months later she let him drink a whole carton of undiluted grapefruit jiuce and guess what??? Yep - he was up all night throwing up! He doesn't go to her place now.

Ledodgyherring · 26/06/2006 23:53

Lol they're mad aren't they although i have to say once they are fully weaned and are used to a selection of fruit and veg there's nothing like their faces when they try their first chocolate button

schneebly · 26/06/2006 23:54

True! Mine are both good eaters and love fruit etc but get very excited about chocolate! They are like their Mum!

NotQuiteCockney · 27/06/2006 06:39

I'd just keep offering bits of your food and see what he's interested in.

I think DS2's first food offered was a spear of red pepper. The first food that actually went down? I think it was a bit of chicken, about a month later.

hunkermunker · 27/06/2006 09:06

That's what I plan on, NQC.

Must stop eating chocolate buttons then (mind you, they've got salmonella in haven't they - oh that's just the sort of thing Cadbury don't want posted, I bet...!)

CadburysSpokesperson · 27/06/2006 17:42

The Salmonella discovered is not considered to be at a level dangerous enough to cause any problems.

HTH

CadburysSpokesperson · 27/06/2006 17:43

I know you've got millions going begging...........................

hunkermunker · 28/06/2006 00:21

Ah, just mild salmonella. That's all right then. I like mild salmonella in my chocolate. Makes it taste better.

Pshaw!

I always started min eoff on carrot. Then mixed the carrot with potato. Then used jars and packets

Greensleeves · 28/06/2006 00:31

Witchity grubs? (Organic ones, of course!)

hunkermunker · 28/06/2006 00:32

Mears!

I'm going HV baiting tomorrow. Or, as other people call it, getting DS2 weighed

Wonder if I'll be asked if he's on solids yet. And why do I find the word "solids" so offensive and heave-making?

How's your ankle, btw, Mears? And the new job? Which is an old comfy job by now, like a big flumpy pair of nice socks, I think.

OP posts:
mears · 28/06/2006 00:34

Ankle still throbs now and then Hunker. It is 11 months now since i fell down the stairs! Still not loving the new job, but it is better. Only a few more months to go then I can return to clinical job. Haven't seen a baby being born for monmths on end. Missing it

mears · 28/06/2006 00:35

Thanks for asking BTW. Arte you feeling any better?

hunkermunker · 28/06/2006 00:47

I'm feeling much better, thank you. Am starting a business, which keeps me too busy to think of anything else (still get a bit low sometimes, but nothing like as bad and my DSs are just brilliant - DS2 SO smiley and peachy and DS1 adorable with him and talking non-stop now).

Sorry your ankle's not 100% and hope you get to see a baby born soon. You could've come down for DS2's birth you know
