Hearty filling breakfast ideas needed for sudden cereal-refuser!

Just that: 10mo has suddenly decided that he does not like either weetabix with mashed banana or ready brek with a variety of pureed fruit in it for his breakfast anymore. Perhaps he is bored cos I have fed him these two things for breakfast for the last 3months!

It's not a spoon issue per say, as he eats a good mixture of finger food and spoon-food throughout the day and is happy to still be spoon fed things that he likes (cheesy mash, yoghurt etc). he is now largely eating the same food as me and DH (lamb sausages and brocolli by hand tonight for tea with a bit of mashed sweet ppotato spoom fed, for example). But I think something he can eat himself would probably be an easier sell!

I need something else that will fill him up at breakfast instead of cereal - please help for tomorrow! Otherwise he will be starving by lunch (I try not to give a morning snack apart from a bit of fruit otherwise he just messes around with his lunch....but without something really hearty he will be famished all morning....dropped his midmorning bottle months ago).

Thanks for any ideas!

ps - I made him the BLW porridge fingers this morning and they seemed to go down ok, but they seem very plain and dry to me, and I am sure he will bore of them soon. Is there any way to make them more interesting? Wondered about putting a small amount of golden syrup in before microwaving them??

Pancakes? American style ones made with self raising flour so they go nice and puffy. I make the ones from the River Cottage baby & toddler cookbook. You can chuck pretty much any fruit in them as well, although the recipe uses blueberries.

Toast with peanut butter? Egg and soldiers? Scrambled egg on toast? Crumpets/ croissant?

Half a bagel with cream cheese? Maybe he's ready for a bit more chewy texture than the baby sludge.
