To wait till 6 months?

We're not in the UK, and my paedeatrician suggested starting solids at 4.5 months.

I believe in the UK currently advice is much more to get as close to 6 months as possible...I weaned DC3 in the UK a few years ago, and then it seemed to be 4-6 months depending on baby.

Really prefer to follow UK guidelines...am I right in thinking a UK health visitor would recommend waiting until 6 months?

Thank you!!!

Yes. If you Google NHS and weaning you'll get the official position and guide. It's basically: wait until 6 months, no honey, v v low salt, nothing small and hard that can cause choking (like a whole nut) and you can use cow's milk but not as a drink until 1 year.

But, babies can't tell the time so 6 months or 5.5 months or 6.5 months doesn't make much difference. If baby is swiping food and self feeding then that can be a good time to start.

Oh how I miss good old sensible NHS advice!

So far poor baby has been prescribed hydrocortisone cream for baby acne on face and anti-fungal cream for cradle cap! I just smile, nod, agree, take the prescription and carry on our own merry way!
