my dd has always loved her milk, I ebf up until 6 months then tried to start weaning, she wasn't bothered and wouldn't take off a spoon so I opted for blw. since then she's gradually eaten a little bit more and we do a mixture of blw and spoon feeding. the thing is she hardly eats anything at all, she has a few mouthfuls and gets bored and throws her food off the high chair. I still give her milk, I am now trying to wean her off the breast and onto bottles, she takes the bottles in the day, its just the night times we need to tackle next, as she has a feed before bed and just about falls asleep on me before I put her to bed, and she wakes up constantly wanting to be fed so I part-time co-sleep with her. I was told she is having so much milk at night she is not bothered by food during the day, what does everyone else think? anyone else had this?

Waking often for milk at 9 months is totally normal, have a read of this on askmoxie.

And yes, feeding a lot at night will affect appetite in the day but again its perfectly normal as is not being interested in food much at this age.

Do you want to reduce the night feeds? Have you read 12 alternatives for the all night nurser? This on reverse cycling might be useful and have you read so how do we get started with solids? I know you've been weaning for a while, but the last one does have some useful information Smile

My daughter was not interested in food until she was 10.5 months and then one day it clicked. I tried everything but ultimately she started eating when she was ready.

From 6 months she started breast feeding more in the night. She would wake 2/3 times a night and feed for anything up to 25 minutes. I stopped the night feeds by gradually reducing the length. It worked brilliantly and my daughter didn't seem to notice.

The way I did it was to time each night feed and then reduce it by 2 minutes a night. So each feed was 25 minutes on night 1, 23 minutes on night 2, 21 minutes on night 3 etc. when I got down to 10 minutes I reduced by 1 minute a night.

I managed to stop my daughter feeding at night (last feed at that point was 10pm). It didn't make her eat food though. But it meant we all got more sleep!
