I can't think of any reason why not. It's only really salt and added sugar you have to be careful of isn't it? They can have milk & milk products on cereal and in food from 6 months.

I would, but then I am not an expert on these matters. Iused whole cows milk in food from when I started weaning.

Absolutely nothing wrong with cream for babies, once they're on dairy.

Don't see any reason not to give him cream. My two couldn't cope with large quantities of fatty foods at that age, so we tended not to give them cream, but a little mixed into the rest of the food was fine.

Sorry - but can I hijack?

Talking of diary products I've always given ds unsalted butter, but the only one I've found is lurpack which is fine for cooking, but is impossible to spread. So has anyone ever found a spreadable unsalted butter?

Sorry again for hijack, and yes I think cream is ok!

if you happen to have more time than money (or are just miserly like us ) then you can make your own spreadable butter really easily by whizzing butter with vegetable oil (think rapeseed is best). is more economical than butter alone, and more spreadable, and better for you and is basically exactly the same as expensive spreadable butter. cleaning the food processor is a bit of a pain, but you can make a fair bit and freeze it...
