14 month old suddenly doesn't want milk - at all!

Not sure what to do....!

Ds usually has two bottles of full fat cows milk a day, one first thing in the morning and one before bed. He has a cup for water but won't touch milk in a cup.

The last few days he has refused all milk. Just isn't interested at all. Is actually (very cutely) trying to feed me the bottle!

I've tried offering milk to him in a cup but he doesn't want it.

Nothing has changed about the bottles and milk, I'm doing everything exactly the same as always.

Is this a problem?? Dd was always a milk lover until she was about 3! So to stop milk completely aged 14 months seems young... obviously I'm offering a lot of calcium rich foods instead - cheese, yoghurt etc.

Ds eats very well, 3 good meals a day, very much into his food. And sleeps and plays well too.

Just looking for reassurance! Thanks.

That must be tough Fairy. Hopefully he will come back to it again soon but in the meantime could you try making your own milkshakes? Mine like the milk whizzed up with a banana and some berries. That should get him to drink some, especially if you let him have a straw. Can you give him some milky cereal too? He only needs 300ml a day, so a bowl of cereal and a milkshake might just cover it Smile

Thank you for the ideas. Hadn't really thought about milkshakes and smoothies etc... brilliant.

Refused all milk again today. Hmmm. Guess he's just changing so much.....!

DS made one today with frozen blueberries, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and milk. No kid could resist Smile

DS1 went right off milk at about this age. Just made up for the liquid with water and juice, and the dairy with yogurt and cheese, including stirring cream cheese into sauces.

If you can't get him to have the milk at all, think its the calcium and the fat you have to replace.

So try things like fish pie, you can add cream to the mash and I think salmon is high in both. Nut butters are good too and try dried apricots and figs as they are both rich in calcium. Things like pasta with a tomato and mozzarella sauce are good as are rice pudding, quiche and omelette.

Both are mine are weird and actually love broccoli which is high in calcium too.
