It says in my baby cookbook that you can make a puree from dried apricots. I've just bought a pack, and reading the pack, it has a warning saying contains Sulphite. Not sure what this is. Is it safe to give baby? It is just a standard Morrisons pack or are there special packs for babies that I should get instead?

The sulphur is a preservative I think. You can get the brown unsulphured ones from most supermarkets. They're what I used to give my dd, though now having read about how a lot of tooth decay in children is attributed to dried fruits I don't think I'll use them on a regular basis for ds.

dried apricots are favourites with my kids - but it gives then upset tums - so we limit them.

fresh apricots are in the shops at the mo; my DS2 loves them.

Sulphites are linked to asthma. You can get unsulphured ones which are a rather more unattractive brown colour, but they are totally yummy. Like toffees.

Thanks. I'll eat these ones myself and buy some of the unsulphured ones instead.
