Oatly or Koko for an 8mth old?

Is it ok to use Oatly or Koko when making my 8mth old's cereal? Or do I need to consult a dietician? He's EBF & I can't express or use Formula. Thanks x

No idea, but I just glanced at the first few words of the title and thought it was a more than usually 'unique' Baby Names thread Grin

Why can't you use formula?

Dd allergic to cows milk and we used soya or oatly for cereal or cooking.

Witters · 18/08/2013 16:43

i thought it was Baby Names too!

Nishky · 18/08/2013 16:47

Another one here who thought it was baby names- thought Koko was cute but that Oatly would never work

Sorry OP have no idea what either is, so can't help

LOOOL! Yes it does sound like a name thread!

Both are milk substitutes.

DS Allergic to cows milk awaits appointment in the meantime wondering if either of those are good for making cereal. Not keen on Soya.

Think oatly would be ok as long as you are not using as a main drink - so only on cooking and for cereal.

We use koko but either is fine. We see a dietitian x

I thought these were suggestions for names!

Ah... Grin

Our DS is fine with goats milk, so we use that - it is much closer to human milk than cows milk anyway.

Some people who react to cows will also react to goat, but the same can be said for Soya ( the proteins are very similar).
Soya products should be avoided anyway, for other health reasons.

We used Oatly for MSPI baby from 6m, for cereal and cooking. Dietician was fine with it. He was BF until 2 yrs and he did have calcium and vitamin supplements in addition.

None of the substitute milks have enough fat or protein in them to be a main drink for under-twos, but if you are still mainly BF, or if you can get additional fat/protein from solids then it's not a problem. Get the calcium supplemented variety. I think you can get coconut cream which is higher fat content, seem to remember someone mixing coconut cream and milk to get a higher fat content drink but can't remember the details - something to ask the dietician.
