Dd2 is going through a phase where she refuses to use a spoon any more, even if I give the spoon to her, she will just stop eating.

I need some ideas of what to give her as I'm properly stuck! I have a meal in place for tonight but I'm fresh out of ideas!

The past week she's been having toast or crumpets in the morning, for lunch its been beans or spaghetti or some pasta and cheese. For tea, she's been having lasagna, cottage pie, she had fish fingers and mash, cheesy hotdog mash, sausage and croquets and she had a fish supper from the fish shop yesterday.

For snacks in an afternoon she usually has some kind of soft fruit. Usually melon, grapes, oranges, or banana.

Does anyone have any ideas? I struggle to get food down her in a morning and at lunch but she usually eats loads of tea.

Tia.

Salmon, pancakes, homemade pizza (on naan bread is v popular here!), tuna, houmous or cream cheese sandwiches, ratatouille. Dd doesn't"do" spoons either!

we do pizzas on english muffins
Jacket potatoes with many of the things your putting on pasta / toast

Thank you so much for your replies! I've got some great ideas here for lunch and dinners. I shall try some this week and hopefully I might get her to eat some more.

mini sausage rolls
filled pasta
fruit or savoury muffins
blueberry pancakes
pitta bread and hummus
potato skins
quesadillas

Pasta with any possible combination of sauces - my 13 month old's favourites are pesto & philly, bolognese and roasted aubergine& tomato.

Sausages - chipolatas especially. Meatballs. Fishcakes. Pitta pockets with tuna or egg mayo.

For breakfast I soak shreddies or mini filled shredded wheats in milk for 3-4 mins then drain off the excess milk and she feeds them to herself with her fingers. At nursery she has curry with naan dipped in (and then the staff feed her bits with a spoon as well).

Sharon, would the mini sausage rolls not have too much salt in them? I was thinking of getting her some of them and the cheese and onion ones when I go shopping but I've put off thinking there would be too much salt.

Sleepless, we get our sausages from the butcher and I cut them in half for her, she loves them! I've soaked some rice crispies in milk this morning as she is struggling with her teeth but won't eat if she's had any gel or crystals (annoyingly) she took them off the spoon but then decided to take them out of her mouth and inspect them before eating... I forgot how disgusting babies are!!

Shall give the shredded wheat a go, sew how well she does with them... Thank god I have a sheet down when she eats... All this new food could get messy!!

The ones I got from Asda say they have 0.2g sodium per 100g. Recommended for babies is 0.6g per 100g or less so i reckon as a once a week treat they are fine. My DS has had them once or twice per week since he was 10mo and loves them.

mouseymummy · 13/08/2013 07:24

Ah, ok brilliant. I'm off to Asda on Thursday so I shall pick some up then. Thank you.

I thought the salt was less than 1g per day? Not a level per food??

mouseymummy · 13/08/2013 15:03

Oh, I have no idea tbh. I think I might have to Google this.

Nextphase it is but if you are looking at a particular food and assessing whether the salt content is high or not the normal is to consider it high when above 0.6g sodium per 100g.
