BLW/finger food - how do you check DCs mouth is empty?

Hi, I got a bit of a fright today as DD (6.5 months) had been eating some toast at breakfast and then started gagging on a remnant about 20 mins later, when I put her down on her back. I had deliberately kept her upright after the meal to give her time to finish anything in her mouth but now worry that I should be checking more. Can anyone advise? Thanks.

I do an 'ahh' noise at DD after she's finished to (try to) get her to copy me so I can see if her mouth's empty. I give her water at the end of each meal too. Still get some hamster moments though.

Thanks. Are you able to see in quite clearly? Our kitchen isn't that bright so I think I would need some sort of miner's torch Shock

Grin Clearly there is a gap in the market for special BLW miners torches! Mostly I can see and I think just encouraging them to open their mouths/babble makes them spit out any food they are 'saving' (yum). I think it is called 'pouching'. DD is 10 mths and very rarely does it now.
