BLW - persuade me not to give up!

My DD is 7.5 months. I have been doing BLW since just before she turned 6 months. She took to it really well at first, not really eating much, but always exploring what I put in front of her, then gradually built up to eating a bit more of it. Unfortunately we soon discovered that she obviously has some food allergies, had a skin reaction to some fruits and reacted badly to cheese and possibly egg. She had blood tests last week and I am waiting to hear the result so I will know exactly what her allergies are. In the past 3 weeks or so she has really eaten nothing at all offered to her and often won't even touch things or will just put them straight on the floor. For example she used to really like banana and now she won't even touch it if I put it in front of her. In the past few weeks she has started cutting her bottom two front teeth so that may be partly responsible. Anyway, this weekend I decided to offer her some fruit purée by spoon for her breakfast as she hasn't eaten anything offered for breakfast in a while and I thought it might be easier on her sore gums. She ate the lot! Now I am having a crisis of confidence thinking that she would prefer me to go down the purée route. I really believe that BLW is the best way to go for all the reasons I have read, and I am relaxed about her not eating much as food is for fun until she is one. But because she has eaten the purée I think it's knocked my confidence and makes me think I am doing the BLW more for me than for her. This isn't helped by lots of people thinking that I'm bonkers for not giving her purée! Should I stick with it, or get my blender out?!

Personally, I would be led by her (that is the point of BLW!) and give her some purees and finger foods, as she gets more confident. Some babies take to blw, some don't.

That's what I was wondering Hazey, whether I should just be following her lead, even if that means giving her purée. Maybe I will try her with purée and finger foods for a few days and see how she gets on.

I agree. Go with what DD seems to want and be flexible as this changes. I've gone down the mixed approach with 8 month old DS and find that some days he wolfs down purées and other days he would much rather feed himself with finger foods. I guess it depends on his mood, how hungry he is and where he's at with the teething. I also found that after initially being really keen on solids, DS seemed to go right off the idea for a few weeks. He's now eating loads again.
Don't let it knock your confidence. Babies have a way of testing our best-laid plans. And if you decide you really want to stick to the BLW then that's fine too, whatever anyone else says. As a friend of mine said - have you ever met an adult who doesn't eat solids? They all get there in their own time.

Just feed her yourself with a spoon. No need for a crisis of confidence
