Is this about right for 10-12 month old? And how will it change after 1yo?

10-12 months
Bf on waking.
Breakfast yoghurt and fruit pot
Lunch (leftover dinner) and formula
Afternoon bf
Dinner
Bf before bed
Dream feed bf 11pm.

At a year old I was thinking:
Bf on waking
Breakfast (cereal with milk)
Lunch + cows milk
Afternoon snack (fruit and yoghurt)
Dinner
Bf before bed

Would that sound about right?

Why do you ask? Is this for your own DC? Bf is very individual and some DC like little and often, others go for 2 or 3 big feeds, go with baby on this one, I suggest.

My DD 7months has

Waking: bf
Breakfast: 1 or 2 from, cereal/cows milk, fruit, toast, yogurt, cheese.
Mid-morning: bf
Lunch: e.g. sandwich, pasta, savoury rice, grilled veg. And fruit.
Mid-afternoon: bf and finger food snack.
Tea: family meal, well chopped up, bite sized pieces.
Early Evening: bf and occasional supper, porridge or weetabix.
Evening: bf before bed routine.
Night: dream feed around 11pm. Often wakes for bf around 4am.

DD has just started walking and her naps are usually 2 x 45mins, sometimes a longer one in the afternoon. I think food/milk intake varies hugely with their activity, sleep pattern, stimulation.

I'm looking forward to dropping the 4am ASAP. Otherwise, she eats as the rest of the family does. Doesn't get drinks other than bf, and cup of water with meals, and likes her milk so no plans to cut daytime bf for now. Her brother was very similar at this age, but was a bf refuser by 8mth, so had formula until 1 year, then cow's milk.

With a full, normal diet (i.e. no allergies, restrictions, health issues) I think this is about right. We don't generally purée or mash, but if she is tired, I offer 'easier' foods. As they become mobile you might like to offer more frequent snacks, certainly mid-morning.

I expect by age 1, portions will be slightly larger, but no changes for us as DD pretty much eats what I do for meals. HTH.

My boys are on.

Waking: BF
Breakfast: porridge w/BM or fruit or a mix.
Mid Morning: BF
Lunch: Lumpy or solid Veggies & yoghurt.
Afternoon: BF before nap
Early Evening: BF & Snack.
Dinner: whatever we have.
Bedtime: BF, then dream feed at 9pm. They still wake and feed every 2-4 during the night.

They still cluster feed when the need takes them. This is just our basic routine. Both twins are walking confidently.

Thank you - yes, it's for my DS. Pfb and all the books seem to say different things! At the moment it's bf at lunchtime with his lunch also, formula when I'm at work. Most people I know are only bf night and morning now, which is where I'd like to be in September, but not quite yet!

aamia - I would love that too but at the minute I'm happy not having much of a routine and let them decide. I can now settle them most nights without those early hour feeds. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Sounds like you are doing just fine. I always try to remind myself that the babies haven't read the books, they're just for ideas and a bit of direction when you feel lost. Not much a nice bf can't fix, either!

My DS has a very healthy attitude to food now (he's 3) having started in a similar pattern to above. But he went through an infuriating phase of not eating when he wasn't hungry. I mean, not at all. He would go for three or four days with only sips of water and a small ff at bedtime. Then when his appetite returned, he would eat like a 10 year old! He is a good weight, height, normal development, no adverse effects so I think what I'm trying to say is; go with the flow. Feed them, let them try everything, challenge them a bit sometimes, make healthy stuff available and hope for the best.

DD is allowed more than DS was at the same stage and I don't make nearly as much effort with 'baby food' for her. She seems to be quite happy.

If you are trying to cut down on bf / ff, just offer more food at meal and snack times and only give milk afterwards?

Sounds fine. Nothing needs to change immediately when they turn 1. It all just happens when it happens. Have you tried cereal and milk in the morning as opposed to the yoghurt? How about offering some finger foods like toast fingers or breadsticks.

My daughter is 11 months and she basically eats what I do

Waking: bf
Breakfast: weetabix with cows milk, sometimes add chopped strawberries or banana, at weekend she gets scrambled eggs and toast
Lunch: Soup and a sandwich with egg mayo/philadelphia/pate etc,
Dinner: whatever we are having - spag bol, chicken korma, casserole, tonight she had haggis, turnip and potato
Formula before bed

BFs she usually has 2 very small bfs during the day the rest of the time she drinks water with her meals

The only change I plan is to switch the night time formula bottle to cows milk
