breast milk milkshakes and lollies!

My twins are EBF and have never had water or ice cubes but have been weaning since 7mo and are now pretty good eaters.

Recently the boys have been reaching out to try and grab DS1's smoothie and I'm fed up of saying no and having the boys get upset when they can't have it.

Do you think it would be okay to mix some fruit with breast milk? And what should I give them it in? Would their bottles do?

Also, I heard somewhere you can make breast milk lollies with fruit.

Anyone tried any of these with their DC?

How old are they? I don't see why a little bit of fruit smoothie would hurt. If you don't want to add a milk to it why not just use an orange juice base? Blueberries and strawberries with orange juice makes a nice smoothie

They're 10m. My son's is made with cows/almond milk and wanted to avoid that. As I've never gave them cold BM before. I wondered if it would be okay.

I want to avoid juice because of the sugar.

If you are giving them fruit smoothie then to be honest it's going to contain sugar even if you squeeze the orange yourself :) fruit contains alot of sugar after all.

Well you can give it a go, banana smoothie with breast milk, should work. Almond milk would make a lovely smoothie mmmmm :)

But not in a bottle, a cup would be better so it's drunk quickly and it's better for teeth that drinks other than the milk are given out a cup.

Just use bm as a replacement for cows milk. I used to freeze it into a finger ice cube tray.

Thank you. I prefer fresh fruit to juice and I only want them on BM right now.

Should I use a small cup or one like a sippy?

I'll try the cubes if the weather stays lime this! :)

Whatever cup they can use :) I preferred to give dd hers in a normal open cup so she would sit down and just drink it. There is too much temptation to walk around and put down/come back to those non spill cups. Pluss sometimes it can be too thick to pass through the spout. But if its only once in a while then I guess any cup will be fine but just don't let them walk around with it. Once it gets put down its done :)

Thanks. We have those mOmma straw sippy cups. I might put them in that and learn them how to use the straw.
